Members of “Peace Sprit Foundation” visited “Tehran Peace Museum” on Monday morning. Throughout the visit, the group was guided by Muhammad Reza Taghipour Moghadam, manager of the museum, who offered invaluable explanations on different parts of the museum.

“War Room” was the first part, which was dedicated to introduction of great wars of history by showcasing symbols of world’s infamous warmongers.

Taghipour, a veteran of Iran-Iraq war himself with two legs missing, underlined that a unique feature of the Peace Museum is that his colleagues who guide visitors upon their visit are also victims of war.

“One of the outcomes of warmongering, especially after Iran-Iraq war, was the use of weapons of mass destruction like chemical and biological weapons that had claimed lives of thousands and even after decades we are still witnessing death of people who were victims of such weapons,” he regretted.

He added, “one of the destructive effects of war, which maybe there is no compensation for, is the weapons left behind in the battle fields; they can have disastrous effects on environment after being absorbed gradually to the soil and during the recent years many countries in Middle East, especially in southern Iran, have been affected by dust storms [containing these particles].”

Noting that ‘Tehran Peace Museum’ is the only one in Middle East and one of 150 peace museums in the world, Taghipour reaffirmed “Peace is a common desire for people of the world; peace, in other words, is to love those you hate and once the idea is adopted around the world, peace would be at hand.”

“’Tehran Peace Museum’ welcomes all people regardless of their religion, ethnicity or set of belief as well as all organizations and institutions concerned with peace,” he said.

“Tehran Peace Museum” is located in central Tehran, north of “Shahr Park”, which is also one of the oldest parks of the Iranian capital.
