| Peace Sprit Foundation is a civil society organization based in Tehran, Iran, which is dedicated to promoting peace across the world. The history of PSF dates back to more than a decade ago, 2005, when the team was working domestically under the name of Bayan Iran Association (NGO) which had put its focus on women and youth issues, lifestyle and social life in Iran. In 2009, Bayan Iran Association won WYSA award for promoting UN SDGs on empowering women. While seeking social equality and justice, improvement of women’s rights and youths’ situation along with many other causes BIA was working for core issues in ’positive peace’, the rise of violence, war and terrorism across the world demanded activities to seek ‘negative peace’ as well to stop or prevent wars and conflicts, too. Moreover, building a bridge between Iranian activists and civil societies has also been a concern for our members. Therefore, after years of planning and contemplation, our members came to conclusion that the organization needs to develop its span of activities… finally leading to official formation of Peace Sprit Foundation. We in Peace Sprit Foundation believe that negative peace which is absence of tension – although a basis for true peace – is not enough and efforts should be integrated in order to establish justice and equality, and put an end to oppression for everyone across the globe, which is translated into positive peace. Cooperation with CSOs, NGOs and IGOs in local, regional and international level to promote peace and stability in conflict areas, to empower women, to promote human rights and to help refugees and displaced people is a priority for Peace Sprit Foundation. As such, peace building, conflict resolution, mediation and all other related activities are on agenda for PSF and to fulfill this goal we try to create mutual respect and understanding between nations. Our organization, with help of a network of activists, peace practitioners, journalists and related organizations, tries to set the ground for more peaceful and secure world and is open for cooperation with individuals and organizations all across the world. |
