Muslim Doctors Group sent a letter to United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to announce support for Rohingya refugees condemning the humanitarian tragedy in Myanmar. Urging the prosecution of criminals by international bodies, the group also called on the international community to ensure delivery of humanitarian aids to the displaced and injured people of the Rohingya.

Dear Mr.  Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein,

 

High Commissioner for Human Rights

 

We are facing today a human tragedy in Rohingya state against Muslim minorities. These terrific incidents are a gross violation of humanitarian and human rights law.

It is unfortunate that these tragic incidents have appeared in a time that human beings are proud of their intellectual, for decades. The continuous massacre of innocent people as highlighted by many in the 36th Session of the HRC, including the OIC per se is an indication of the importance of the urgent action of the International Community to put an end to the continued violence and abuse against minority men, women, children and provide full and unhindered humanitarian access.

To this end, we, a group of Muslim doctors and medical specialists from all over the world, regardless of nationality and affiliations, strongly condemn this ongoing violence against the Rohingya Muslims and aware of the horrific situation arising from this systematic violation of Human Rights supported by the certain agent of the Myanmar government, would like to bring to your kind attention that urgent necessary support and humanitarian assistance needed on the ground to alleviate the suffering of thousands of homeless people who have lost their beloved ones.

 

 

It is of utmost importance that all options being deplored including using the capacity of the Security Council, General Assembly, OHCHR and UNCHR and other relevant International Organization to ensure that these incidents will not be repeated and those who are committed to this crimes to bring to justice.

In this regard, guarantees should be made for the availability of international assistance to the injured and refugees of the incident, and the immediate and effective prevention of domestic and foreign support from criminals without any delay. Meanwhile, it is also highly expected that the United Nations and the Human Rights Council take all legal and necessary measures in particular by the Fact Finding Mission on Myanmar as mandated with a view to address international concerns about the deteriorating situation in Myanmar.
